Christina Sung, age 13, lives in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is a student of Professor Jihea Hong-Park at BYU. Christina made her orchestral debut with the Utah Symphony at Abravanel Hall as the winner of the Salute to Youth Competition in 2022. Since starting piano at age 8 ½, she has already amassed an array of competition wins. Most recently, Christina triumphed in the MTNA Southwest Division Competition, securing a place in the 2024 National Finals in Atlanta, Georgia. Additionally, she won First Place in the 2024 Emory Young Artist Piano Competition, the 2024 Radda Rise International Piano Competition, and the 2024 UMTA Concerto Competition. In 2023, Christina consistently achieved First prizes in piano competitions, including the Walgreens National Concerto Competition, the International Keyboard Odyssiad® Concerto Competition, the Paderewski International Piano Competition, and the Medici International Music Competition. She also claimed the Ebony Prize in the 2023 MTNA National Finals. Furthermore, Christina garnered top honors in the ENKOR International Piano Competition and the IKOF Solo Competition. Her record of First-place finishes extends to the BYU Piano Competition, the UMTA Concerto Competition, the Ogden Piano Concerto Competition, and the University of Utah Summer Arts Piano Competition in the Solo and Concerto divisions. Christina has performed as a soloist with numerous orchestras, including the Utah Symphony, the American West Symphony, the Utah Philharmonic Orchestra, the Timpanogos Symphony Orchestra, the Chamber Orchestra Ogden, and the American Fork Symphony. She participated in the Southeastern Piano Festival, the International Keyboard Odyssiad® Festival, and Gina Bachauer 'The Music In Our Schools' Program. In recognition of her dedication to community service through music, Christina received the Gold Medal of the President’s Volunteer Service Award in 2022 and 2023. Outside of music, she is fluent in four languages and enjoys figure skating in her leisure time.
