Daniel Liu is a 7th grader attending Great Neck South Middle School. He began his piano lessons at age five and half. In 2019, at age 8, Daniel was accepted into the Manhattan School of Music Pre-College and currently studies with Professor Jeffrey Cohen. His teachers have included Evelyn Golz, Hanbo Liu and Michelle Li. Daniel has won top prizes in numerous competitions including the 1st Place of 2023 Music International Grand Prix, the 1st Place of 2023 Camerate Artists International Competition, the 2nd Prize of 2022 Piano Star International Competition (Professional Group), the Silver Prize of 2022 32nd Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey, the Gold Prize of 2021 31st Young Pianist Competition of New Jersey, the 2nd Place Winner of 2021 Prima Volta Music Competition, the 1st Place of 2020 Vivo International Competition, etc. He had achieved A+ (100/100) for 2 consecutive years in the 2022 and 2023 NYSSMA (New York State School Music Association) Piano Level 6 (Highest Level) Exam and was chosen to perform in the 2022 NYSSMA 16th Annual Piano Showcase in Rochester. He was also selected to perform in the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Honors Recital each year since 2020. In addition to piano, Daniel plays clarinet in his school's senior band. He also played piano in 2023 Young Ensembles Concert in Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Chamber Music Competition program. In his spare time, Daniel enjoys reading novels and playing chess.
